"My name is Tobi! And I'm a Jedi!"
―Tobi[4]

T0-B1 was a Force-sensitive droid that dreamed of being a Jedi.[5] He was originally Tobi, the Padawan of Professor Mitaka. Although Tobi died during the Great Jedi Purge following Order 66, Mitaka placed his soul inside a droid body to resurrect him into T0-B1. T0-B1 was Force-sensitive, powered by a kyber crystal, and aspired to become a Jedi. Mitaka focused on researching a way to bring life to desert planets, starting with an uninhabited planet where he conducted research in a compound full of droids, including T0-B1 and C03.[2]

Biography

Purged and rebuilt

Originally a human Padawan, Tobi was killed during the Great Jedi Purge following Order 66. Years later, Professor Mitaka managed to bring him back to life as a droid under T0-B1 to help him with his research on an unknown planet inhabited by Mitaka's droids.[2]

Despite this, T0-B1 dreams of becoming a real-life Jedi though he needs to help Mitaka terraform the planet into a lush and beautiful world even if the galaxy has he knows it to be terrifying and full of danger. Still enough, the only way he'll be a Jedi is to find a Kyber Crystal, a core to an lightsaber and somewhere hidden in the world. For as tradition goes, Padawans must find Kyber Crystals of their own in order to build themselves their own lightsabers.[4]

The basement

Determined to find a Kyber Crystal on his home planet, T0-B1, with the help of his droid friend C03, rode through on a speeder bike across the desert day and night to find one. Upon returning home, Mikata tells him to clear his mind and use the Force as it present everywhere in all things as Jedis do. Though he doesn't know how the force works on his own, T0-B1 screahed almost everywhere expect the basement which Mitaka forbids him to go down there. But one night, he and C03 went down to the basement to discover Mitaka's skyhopper, powered down and hasn't been used since arriving on the planet after the Great Jedi Purge.

After unknownly sending a transmission to Imperial Star Destroyer, Mitaka discovers T0-B1 inside the skyhopper then used the force to hide his droid and his disassembled lightsaber, sensing a disturbance in the Force that the Galactic Empire is here. The last words Mitaka said to T0-B1 before deactivating him was "I am one with the Force. The Force is with me.", sealing him before tasking C03 with keeping watch over him.[4]

Fulfill the professor's dreams

After being reactivated, T0-B1 and C03 discovers that the Professor's home has been wrecked and that the other droids were destoryed. Wondering what happened, the only thing he found outside was a mound of rocks, revealing Mitaka has died to protect T0-B1 from the empire. After seeing Mitaka's remaining plants, T0-B1 makes it right by continting his mentor's dream of terraforming the planet, meaning that he and C03 have to repair the other droids, fix the lab, and work tirelessly over a long period of time.

After turning the vaules to let a few steam out through the pipes, they are able to generate clouds and flora, which cover the entire planet and produce rain for the first time. T0-B1 managed to not only fulfill the Professor's dream but hearing the words of his late mentor Mitaka, he then discovers the Kyber Crystal from within his body and reassembles Mitaka's lightsaber with various components.[4]

The jedi within

"Droid? A droid became a Jedi!"
―The Inquisitor to T0-B1[4]

Celebrating T0-B1's success, it was soon interrupted by a TIE/ad v1 fighter arriving through the clouds. An Inquisitor, who was responsible for the death of Mitaka and the one who picked up T0-B1's skyhopper transmission from a report by a stormtrooper, approaches the droids before realizing that there is another Jedi on the planet, asking T0-B1 where he comes from. In self-defense, T0-B1 draws his lightsaber and fights the Inquisitor who sees him as a threat to the empire. Not even strong enough to take him on and his force, Mitaka reaches out to T0-B1 through the Force who tells him to not be afraid and reassures the young droid Padawan that he is well prepared for this fight, proud of him for growing up and thanking him for bringing life back to the planet.

After Mitaka knights him as a true Jedi and wishing him by the will of the Force, T0-B1, now as Tobi, continues the fight with the droids' help, but gets his left arm sliced off by the Inquisitor who was surprised of a droid being a Jedi. In his final attack while the Inquisitor is being attacked by the droids, T0-B1 summons C03 to become powered up and charges directly at the Inquisitor in a last effort of saving the droids. Finishing it off, he slices off one of the Inquisitor's arms, killing him before T0-B1 lays on the ground after being powered up by C03. As the droids worry about him, T0-B1 gives them a thumbs up, celebrating once again to his first Jedi fight.[4]

The next morning, T0-B1 takes one last look of the planet now terraformed thanks to his mentor's research, before departing in the skyhopper with C03 and Mitaka's work. Before setting off on his path in space, T0-B1 states that they will continue the research and the Professor's legacy of helping planets, because that is what Jedi would do.[4]
