Svapers were eel-like predators native to Rodia.
Biology and appearance
Svapers had a long body covered in a coarse outer skin. They had thin spines along their head and backs as a defensive measure. The spines were barbed and hard to remove from flesh. The gills of the creatures were very fragile and could be successfully punctured which would lead to brain damage. The large eyes of svapers were black and covered with a protective layer that prevented dirt and small organisms from getting into the eye. Their quick reflexes enabled them to survive in the harsh environment of Rodia. The creatures primarily ate large animals, but would also consume garbage, floating molds and native Rodians.[1]
Behavior
They seized prey in their needle teeth and constricted it with their muscular bodies, drowning it beneath the water before consuming it whole. They were generally solitary creatures, but would occasionally group up when in rich feeding grounds.[1]
History
Rodians often engaged in the competitive sport of svaper wrestling. Svapers were illegal to own in many systems, but crimelords often kept a tank of them as a status symbol and to eliminate enemies. In one example, crime boss Hatabbas threw Kend Harlow into a tank with a svaper after he was caught stealing from a safe.[1]
