"You can tell your people that the resistance fighters are using the old cargo tunnels, the ones that run parallel to the subgrav tunnels."
―Mercurial Swift, to Rae Sloane — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

A subgrav train was a type of passenger train used on[1] the Core Worlds[2] planet Coruscant during the Galactic Civil War. The Black Line, which linked the neighboring Verity and Federal Districts, used subgrav trains.[1]

In 5 ABY,[3] Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, de facto commander of the Galactic Empire, covertly visited Coruscant to research her mysterious superior, Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax. While in the Verity District, Sloane considered using the Black Line to reach the Federal District but ultimately decided against this, as a power loss may have disrupted the line. Shortly after, Sloane was rescued from insurgent forces by the bounty hunter Mercurial Swift, who informed the admiral that resistance fighters were using old cargo tunnels running parallel to subgrav tunnels.[1]

Behind the scenes

Subgrav trains were mentioned in Aftermath: Life Debt, a 2016 novel written by Chuck Wendig as the second entry in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.[1]
