- «If the Lioaoin Regime is involved with the pirates, you risk stirring up a mssive stinger nest.»
- ―Qilori, to Thrawn
Stingers were creatures that lived in nests. Some years before[1] 19 BBY,[2] during a skirmish in the Unknown Regions Kinoss system, navigator Qilori of Uandualon once told the Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," that his actions in trying to figure out if the Lioaoin Regime nation was backing pirates against the Chiss Ascendancy risked "stirring up a massive stinger nest."[1]
Behind the scenes
Stingers were mentioned in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1] In Star Wars Legends, stingers were mentioned in the 1981 Star Wars radio drama episode "Black Knight, White Princess, and Pawns," with "a stingers' nest" having the same idiomatic meaning as in the later novel.[3]
