"As a lifelong Star Wars fan, it was an honor to be asked to be a part of wrapping up the Skywalker saga with Marvel Comics. We have some fun plans to add scenes and material that weren't seen in the movie."
―Jody Houser[4]

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation is an comic miniseries adaptation of the film of the same name. The series was to be written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Will Sliney, and published by Marvel Comics. The first issue was originally scheduled to be released in June 2020. Houser, noting that she had been a lifelong Star Wars fan, said it was an honor to be asked to write the comic, and stated that the comic would include scenes and material that was absent from the movie.[4]

On April 1, 2020, Marvel Comics was forced to stall their publishing line due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5] Eventually, Marvel announced they would resume their publishing line on May 27 of that year but did not announce a new release date for any of this series' postponed issues.[6] On May 4, 2023, cover artist Phil Noto shared textless covers he had drawn for the series.[7]

On November 20, 2024, Marvel announced that after five years in limbo, they will finally publish the adaptation of The Rise of Skywalker by February of 2025.[1]
