Star Wars: Build Your Own R2-D2 was a partworks (subscription-based) model kit and magazine published by De Agostini. Each issue included parts to make an app-controlled R2-D2 along with articles concerning the making of the Star Wars films, in-universe information concerning droids and real-world information on scientific advancements related to robotics. It ran for 100 issues between January 2017 and January 2019, with issues being shipped in packs of 4 once a month.
The finished model was billed as a 1:2 replica of R2-D2, though it was actually 1:2.3 in scale. It was remote controlled and motorized, had a rotating dome with lights, and had various other features reflecting the R2-D2 props of the Original Trilogy.
