- "I was one of many who were lucky enough to be some of the first passengers on Star Tours newest luxury yacht. Everything was fine until the droid captain changed course towards Yavin to show us something "neat"."
- ―A commoner, to a spacer
A class of new luxury yachts was launched by the Star Tours Spacelines during the Galactic Civil War. These yachts shared many traits with Corellian designs such as the CR90 corvettes.
Characteristics
- "Tell the Star Tours company that they need to fix their droids, they're crazy!"
- ―A commoner, to a spacer
Similarly to the CR90 corvettes of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, the Star Tours yacht had a hammer-shaped cockpit, perpendicular to the ship's elongated body. A rectenna sensor was mounted at the stern of the ship.[2] Like other vessels flying for Star Tours, the luxury yachts were operated by pilot droids.[3] At least one individual ship of that class, the Tzarina, bore red markings.[2]
History
- "The ship was hit by a strange T.I.E. Fighter that was tumbling out of control. Our hyperdrive initiated and drove us straight into this planet. You must let others know..."
- ―A commoner, to a spacer
Once such yacht, christened Tzarina, was involved in a major accident during its inaugural flight around the time of the Battle of Yavin. The Tzarina collided with an unidentified TIE Series starfighter in orbit around Yavin Prime. Because of the impact, the yacht's hyperdrive initiated, driving the ship to the planet Dathomir where it crash landed, causing the death of most its passengers.[1]
Behind the scenes
The wreckage of the Tzarina was a location in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] The crashed ship was identified as the Star Tours luxury yacht Tzarina by a herald NPC[1] added to the game with the "Publish 1" update, released on August 3, 2003.[5]
In Star Wars Galaxies, the luxury yacht Tzarina used a generic model that was widely used for many unrelated vessels such as regular inter-system shuttles,[6] Cal Handro's freighter,[7] or a GeneTech Syndicate transport.[8]
In one of the departure sequences of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, a Star Tours luxury yacht with the eleven-engine configuration of the CR70 and CR90 could be seen to the left and a smaller version of the AA-9 Coruscant freighter to the right.
