The sprantal was an amphibian native to the planet Dathomir. Sprantal were massive amphibians with thick hides, long legs, and longer necks. They were typically a deep mottled-green color that helped camouflage them, particularly underwater. Their four strong legs were able to raise their stout bodies three meters off the ground. Sprantals possessed a four-meter long, rope-like neck which ended in a head with three large, globe-like eyes in a triangular arrangement on top and one eye below a fang-filled mouth, giving them a 360-degree view around their head.[1]
When a sprantal hid underwater, their heads were just under the surface, allowing their eyes to remain above the water to watch for potential prey and enemies. These predators typically ambushed their prey while they were drinking from a sprantal's pond, but sometimes they attacked prey walking past. The additional, forward-facing eye below their wide, toothy mouth allowed them to see underwater as well as giving them a better view when attacking prey. Their stout bodies were approximately three to four meters long and half again as wide. Their necks could extend in a highly flexible manner, allowing sprantals standing at full height to attack creatures everywhere except directly to the rear.[1]
