Speaker was a position within the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic. During the Republic's final years, the position was held by Vice Chair Mas Amedda, who wielded the Speaker's staff while in the Senate Building on the planet Coruscant.[1] Amedda continued to hold the position in the Imperial Senate as the Grand Vizier of the Galactic Empire.[2]
