Space worms referred to entities that ate sentient life-forms. After capturing an X-wing starfighter piloted by the astromech droid R2-D2 and noticing that there was no pilot in the ship, a containment team Stormtrooper Commander speculated that the pilot had fled from the ship and was floating through the Monsua Nebula, being eaten by space worms.[1]
