A sonic emitter (colloquially known as a shrieker) was a device designed to emit a powerful shrill sound. It could be used as a way to temporarily neutralize aggressive individuals. Lightning, the astromech droid owned by the bartender Florn of the Zero Angle, was equipped with such a device. On at least one occasion, he used it to break up a bar fight between Imperial Navy pilots and Imperial Army pilots.[1]
