Soka flies were a type of buzzing fly that could travel in groups. After being wounded in a battle against the Nihil marauder organization at the Cyclor Shipyards[1] in 231 BBY,[2] Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar felt that everyone around him was constantly checking on his welfare, similar to soka flies swarming around.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, soka flies were mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[3] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, soka flies first appeared in Republic Commando: True Colors, a 2007 novel written by Karen Traviss as the third novel in the Republic Commando series.[4]
