Quarzite space station, a skyhook tethered to the planet Quarzite
Skyhooks were orbital space stations tethered to the surface of planets.[1] A skyhook known as Quarzite space station[2] was connected via tethered turbolifts[1] to a transport area[3] located in Quarzite's subterranean caverns,[1] as its surface was strained by incredibly strong atmospheric pressure that could crush starships and flatten beings.[4]
