"Long before the Empire, travelers fell from the sky. They were monsters, beasts and foul vermin. They created temples dedicated to darkness and evil. Other travelers soon followed. They were noble warriors who carried with them swords of burning light. After a terrible battle, the creatures were finally destroyed and purged from this world. The warriors turned their dark temples into storehouses of knowledge and peace."
―The seer of a Gap Nine temple[2]

The Battle of Gap Nine took place during the New Sith Wars between the Galactic Republic and the New Sith. Around 1500 BBY, the Sith made an incursion on Gap Nine,[1] a planet where they built temples dedicated to their malevolent worship.[2] After having drafted enough troops, the Galactic Republic attacked the Sith on the planet.[1] The ensuring battle was mainly fought by a force of Jedi who eventually defeated[2] the Sith.[1] After the terrible battle, the remaining Sith were expelled from the planet and the Jedi eventually converted the temples into storehouses of knowledge. Centuries later, the Gap Nine inhabitants still remembered the Sith invasion and the heroic intervention of the Jedi who purged the planet of darkness.[2]
