Shroomchips were a type of food available in the galaxy by 20 BBY. The Sullustan journalist Den Dhur ate a handful of shroomchips which had been served in a bowl while he was in the cantina run by the Ortolan Baloob in Republic Mobile Surgical Unit 7, which was stationed on the planet Drongar during the Clone Wars.[1]

Shroomchips first appeared in MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, the first novel in the MedStar Duology, written by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry and published in 2004.[1]
