Shoulder-mounted armaments were a diverse style of weapon configurations utilizing shoulder and often back attachments that fired some form of over-the-shoulder weaponry intended to free the hands of the user. These armaments were generally autonomous, and sometimes had built-in blaster technology,[1] while others allowed for the attachment and removal of external blaster pistols.[4] The projectile types of these blasters could vary widely, with some firing lasers[1] while others could even launch micro-missiles.[3]
The Parwan bounty hunter Derrown, also known as "the Exterminator," sported a shoulder-mounted blaster[2] between 20[5] and 19 BBY.[6] Mercenary Migs Mayfeld used a pseudocybernetic automated weapon mounting armor attachment equipped with a DT-12 heavy blaster pistol prior to and during the Bothan-Five incident[4] in 9 ABY.[7] That same year,[8] two participants in the Hunters of the Outer Rim utilized shoulder-mounted weaponry as part of their kits.[3] Human[9] Hunter Imara Vex wore a shoulder-mounted micro-missile launcher,[10] while the KX-series security droid K-A0S was equipped with a back-mounted SE-14r light repeating blaster.[11]
