Automated weapon mountings were sophisticated pseudocybernetics that allowed their user to fire a hand-held weapon while keeping both of their hands free. They were most commonly shoulder-mounted, although some models incorporated articulated appendages. Automated weapon mountings could be activated via voice commands or a neural-link. They typically cost 3,000 credits on the market and were commonly used by special forces, bounty hunters, combat engineers, and sappers. Notable models included the Mitrinomon Transports "Quicker Draw" Hands-Free Trigger and the Neuro-Saav Technologies Mk II Self-Defense Harness.[1]

In 9 ABY,[2] Human mercenary Migs Mayfeld used an automated weapon mounting during the Bothan-Five incident.[3]
