Shock fields were electrical barriers used for security purposes; anyone who came into contact with a shock field would receive an electric shock. Shock fields were used in conjunction with defense turbolasers to defend public buildings on Emperor Palpatine's throneworld Byss.[1] Reverse-polarity shock fields were used to get rid of mynocks at the Ord Mynock Freeport on Ord Mynock.[2] Additionally, contact shock fields were used in Universal Energy Cages to shock prisoners anytime the cage was damaged in the event the prisoner attempted to escape.[3][4]
