A temporary Imperial base was constructed during a battle between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance on the Outer Rim moon Shard[2] no earlier than 0 BBY.[1] After the base was constructed, Alliance scouts Rel and Fila were sent to survey the structure, the latter losing her life during the mission.[2]

Rel continued the mission two days later, watching the base from behind a rock. He spotted a cold weather assault trooper patrolling the makeshift base and intended to shoot the soldier as target practice. After realizing that the trooper was his old friend and fellow Alderaanian Max, the pair called a truce and moved out of sight from the base to the edge of a small forest, where they talked and reminisced about their time as children.[2]

Behind the scenes

The base appeared in "The Song of Winter's Heart," a short story written by Cavan Scott and George Mann for the Life Day Treasury anthology, which was published on September 7, 2021. Prior to the book's release, the base's mention was included in a preview of the short story in a StarWars.com article published on September 3 of the same year.[3]
