The Sergeant-at-Arms or Sergeant at Arms was an official with law enforcement and administrative responsibilities in the Galactic Senate and later the New Republic Senate and was charged with the maintenance of order on the floor of the chamber.
Duties
The Sergeant at Arms was responsible for maintaining order during sessions and to maintain security and protocol in the Grand Convocation Chamber. They sat in the central pod below the Supreme Chancellor and Vice Chair of the Galactic Republic. The New Republic Senate also had a Sergeant at Arms.
History
By 25 ABY, Mif Kumas had been Sergeant at Arms of the New Republic Senate for two terms.
