A Sensor Inverter was a countermeasure system that could mounted on and used by Rebel and Imperial starfighters for protection against missiles. It functioned by releasing a burst of electromagnetic radiation which redirect the missile back at the ship that originally fired it. While effective, the inverter only worked at very close ranges.[1][2]
During the Battle of Var-Shaa, Titan Leader Varko Grey utilized a sensor inverter when the pursuing New Republic pilot fired a proton torpedo at him. The torpedo was successfully redirected but was shot down by the pilot before it could cause damage.[3]
