The Senate Intelligence Committee was a legislative committee within the New Republic Senate. In the decades after the Galactic Civil War, it investigated reports regarding the First Order and concluded that it was an ill-equipped, poorly organized, and barely-funded remnant made up of Imperial loyalists. As a result, the New Republic did not consider the First Order to be a threat.^[1]
