"A grand gesture. It showed there was no place we would not go."
"And it crowned what was yet another great achievement, on the planet itself. A monumental work that this Order—including one of us here—had much to do with."
―Jedi Masters Plo Koon and Yaddle[2]

Sanctuary Mount was a promontory on Capital Key in the Gem Cities of Kwenn on the planet Kwenn that served as an outpost of the Jedi Order. Sanctuary Mount was the name of both the promontory and the Jedi outpost that had been carved into it.[2]

History

The outpost was built as part of the Grand Renewal, one of the Great Works of the High Republic Era, with the involvement of Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis. At night, the Unquenchable Flame would shine to remind the people of Kwenn of the Jedi's support. The outpost was still open two hundred years later under the care of Seneschal Voh, although it was no longer frequently attended by Jedi.[2]

When the Jedi High Council discussed closing down unused outposts to better accommodate increased presence elsewhere, the Kwenn outpost was considered, although some of the Masters were reluctant to consider shutting down the outpost. Master Mace Windu proposed that the members of the Council embark on a visit to the Kwenn outpost to meet the people of the planet and determine whether to close it down.[2]

During the Defense of Kwenn, Zilastra bombed and destroyed the outpost on sanctuary mount. In the aftermath of the battle it was decided that the outpost would not be rebuilt, however it was decided to clear the top of the mountain to install a new brazier which would be lit everyday not by the Jedi but the people of Kwenn themselves.[2]
