ST0-48, or Esteeoh-Four Eight, was an Imperial medical droid later repurposed to be a mixicologist at Chabak's casino in the Zirtran's Anchor space station.

Biography

Esteeoh served as a medical droid with Emperor Palpatine's personal physician in Imperial City. Chabak, the original owner of Chabak's, came to own Esteeoh by unknown means. He modified his extensive pharmaceutical and xenobiological programming to apply it to concocting drinks from all over the Galaxy. Esteeoh's astounding knowledge and skills in drink mixing became a major draw for Chabak's casino, helping to establish it as the most popular entertainment spot in Zirtran's Anchor. Chabak wiped the droid's memory so that he had no knowledge of his past life. Esteeoh's original programming codes remained locked away in the bar's secret safe.[1]

Then, Zirtran's Anchor mysteriously disappeared. It was later rediscovered in the Phosphura Belt Nebula with all of its organic inhabitants missing, including Chabak. ST0-48 remained aboard but claimed to have no knowledge of what happened. Chabak's relative Quink came to the Anchor to reclaim and revive Chabak's establishment, with his younger cousin Padda in tow. With Esteeoh's help, the cousins were able to restore Chabak's to its former place as a lively, popular gambling den.[1]

Quink discovered Esteeoh's old programming in the safe, thus learning the secret of the droid's former life. A little later, ST0-48 began sporadically speaking gibberish about rows of medical tanks and other strange things. It remained unknown whether these ramblings related to his former job as a medical droid or to the mysterious disappearance of the space station.[1]

Characteristics

ST0-48's specifications as a medical droid gave him remarkable abilities as a bartender. Chabak's had a running house bet: if someone could name a drink that the droid could not make, then drinks would be free for a week. To win, the patron would need to demonstrate that their request was a real beverage that could be made with available ingredients. While many challengers tried, no one was ever able to win this bet.[1]

Though his memory had been wiped of any information about his Imperial past, Esteeoh retained his little-used medical skills alongside his new mixicology protocols. He could, if required, diagnose and treat diseases or injuries, as well as administer first aid.[1]

Equipment

Chabak reprogrammed Esteoh but did not make any significant modifications to his medical droid body. He was a black, bell-shaped droid with four server arms and fine work manipulators. He had a vocabulator, allowing him to speak.[1]
