SPFX: The Empire Strikes Back is a 1980 documentary on the making of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
On September 22, 1980, it was broadcast on Chicago's WBBM-TV television channel.[1]
In 1981, it was issued to video by Magnetic Video as a Laserdisc exclusive, before being released a year later by 20th Century Fox Video on VHS, Betamax, CED, and Laserdisc as part of a double feature with the 1977 The Making of Star Wars and was later reissued as a triple feature with The Making of Star Wars and the 1983 special Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi. It was also included in the Star Wars saga Blu-ray box set released in 2011.[3]
