- "When it became clear that emergency aid was required Leia Organa immediately reached out to the only group she could be sure would answer. Within days three heavy freighters full of bacta and food were chartered and delivered to Wobani, all paid for and piloted by Alderaanian refugees, led by Commander Rutowan Cannter. It was a start, but it was not enough."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Rutowan Cannter was an Alderaanian commander who was part of the Alderaan Flotilla of refugees who survived the destruction of the planet Alderaan[1] in 0 BBY.[2] When it became apparent that the former prison planet Wobani needed emergency aid after it was abandoned by the Galactic Empire, Senator Leia Organa of the New Republic Senate contacted the Alderaanian refugees, knowing that they would respond. Within days, a convoy of three heavy freighters carrying food and bacta was chartered, paid for, and piloted by Alderaanians led by Cannter.[1]
They delivered the supplies, but it was not enough for all of Wobani. A file titled "Alderaanian Convoy to Wobani—Leia Organa's Official Request" which covered Cannter's involvement in the convoy was stored in the "Relief Efforts" section of the New Republic Archives.[1] In 35 ABY,[3] the historian Beaumont Kin mentioned Cannter's leadership of the convoy in[1] his[4] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.[1]
Behind the scenes
Rutowan Cannter was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
