Biography

Duzay Tour Trouble

"Oh my. I'm sorry, you've arrived at a distracting time. Actually, perhaps you might help. It appears our offworld tour group from Duzay has gone astray from their scheduled nature walk. They've left behind their signal finder to guide them back here. The wilderness is dangerous. Please deliver the signal finder to the group leader."
―Rovim Minnoni, to a spacer[1]

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, a Human male named Rovim Minnoni resided in Varykino, a lakeside retreat on the[1] Mid Rim[2] planet of Naboo.[1] By 1 ABY,[3] Minnoni worked at the Lake Retreat Hotel, where he frequently struggled with tour groups becoming lost. One such offworld party from Duzay left behind their signal finder while on a scheduled nature walk, leaving them without a way to navigate back to safety.[1]

When approached by a spacer, Minnoni explained the situation. Concerned for the visitors, Minnoni requested that the spacer deliver the signal finder to the group’s leader, the Gungan tour guide Zazzi Yown. The spacer agreed and ventured into the Naboo wilderness. On the way, the spacer was attacked by a pair of capper spineflaps but managed to fend them off. Upon presenting the device to Yown, the Gungan explained that he and his companions had wandered into dangerous capper spineflap territory and expressed gratitude at its recovery. With the device returned, Yown was able to reunite the tourists and guide them back to safety.[1]

Upon the spacer’s return to the Lake Retreat, Minnoni offered thanks and rewarded the individual with credits. Reassured that the Duzay group was safely reunited, Minnoni added that he might call upon the spacer again in the future for further errands.[1]

The Missing Herbalist

"Ah, welcome. Again you've arrived at a confused time. A tourist from the Duzay group is lost. He went looking for Naboo herbs, because he's an herbalist. Please bring him back here—er, if you will—?"
―Rovim Minnoni, to a spacer[1]

Not long after assisting with the Duzay tour group, Minnoni explained that yet another problem had arisen. One of the tourists, an herbalist named Bevon Cordh, had wandered away while searching for Naboo herbs and failed to return. Concerned for the man’s safety, Minnoni requested that the spacer find Cordh and escort him back.[1]

The spacer located Cordh in the wilderness and safely brought the wayward herbalist back to the Lake Retreat. In recognition of their continued help, Minnoni once again rewarded the spacer with credits.[1]

The Missing Adventurer

"Oh, dear, it's been a never-ending series of calamities today. Just before you got here, we sent out another adventurer to look for the lost tour group. Please go and find him."
―Rovim Minnoni, to a spacer[1]

Even after the Duzay herbalist had been rescued, the hotel's troubles were far from over. When the spacer returned, Rovim Minnoni lamented that it had been a “never-ending series of calamities.” He explained that, just before the spacer’s arrival, yet another adventurer had been dispatched to search for the lost tour group. That man, however, had not returned. Minnoni entreated the spacer to locate the missing rescuer and ensure his safety.[1]

The spacer discovered the adventurer, Nion Lip'to, alive in the wilds and escorted him back to the Lake Retreat Hotel. Minnoni rewarded the spacer with a final payout in acknowledgment of their continued service.[1]

Personality and traits

"Oh, dear. I hope the tour group will be all right. We lose so many tour groups nowadays."
―Rovim Minnoni, to a spacer[1]

Rovim Minnoni was a fair-skinned Human male with gray hair and gray eyes.[1] As a hotelier at the Lake Retreat Hotel, he often appeared flustered or distracted when dealing with unexpected crises. His manner of speech suggested a formal yet hesitant personality, with frequent pauses and self-corrections such as “er” or “ah.” Minnoni regularly described the series of mishaps that befell his guests as “calamities,” reflecting both his sense of responsibility and his anxious disposition.[1]

Although he sometimes apologized for being busy or unable to speak at length, Minnoni consistently expressed concern for the well-being of the lost tourists and those sent to find them. He was quick to ask for help but also eager to thank those who assisted him, offering polite encouragement and modest rewards in return. His remarks also indicated a pride in the Lake Retreat Hotel itself, which he described as offering “elegant rooms, superb conference facilities, and the most attentive service.”[1]

Minnoni’s dialogue further demonstrated a courteous, deferential tone, often framing requests as favors rather than orders. He seemed relieved and grateful whenever a task was completed, acknowledging both the dangers faced in Naboo’s wilderness and his own inability to resolve such matters personally.[1]

Equipment

"Please enjoy your visit. By all means look around the hotel; it's quite attractive."
―Rovim Minnoni, to a spacer[1]

During his time at the Lake Retreat Hotel, Rovim Minnoni dressed in an outfit comprised of muted grays and dark blues. He wore a dark blue soft undershirt with long sleeves, layered beneath a gray decorative vest that featured vertical blue panels along the front. His trousers consisted of light gray dress slacks, which he tucked into a pair of black standard boots that rose partway up his calves.[1]

Behind the scenes

Rovim Minnoni was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4]

Minnoni originally offered a short questline at the Lake Retreat Hotel on Naboo consisting of one delivery mission and two escort missions. The first tasked the player with delivering a signal finder to the Gungan tour guide Zazzi Yown, during which they were attacked by two capper spineflaps. That quest rewarded the player with 25 credits. The second and third quests involved escorting Bevon Cordh, an herbalist searching for Naboo herbs, and Nion Lip'to, an adventurer sent to recover the missing tourists, for rewards of 50 and 100 credits respectively.[1]

Although the first quest to Zazzi Yown was fully functional, much of Minnoni’s later dialogue was incomplete.[1] Surviving client files indicate that several of Minnoni’s dialogue entries for the second and third quests were left blank, leaving players without proper in-game responses when undertaking those quests. At some point during the game’s lifespan, the unfinished Cordh and Lip'to quests were removed, leaving only the Yown quest available to players.[5]
