"Rotar Lopani, a thief with ties to Bando Gora, fled Coruscant a month ago allegedly with sensitive diplomatic datapads. Circarpous representatives turned to the Jedi for resolution on the matter, but also filed an 8000-credit reward with the Bounty Hunter's Guild."

Rotar Lopani was a thief with ties to the Bando Gora criminal organization who lived during the reign of the Galactic Republic. In 22 BBY, representatives of the Circarpous sector placed a bounty of 8,000 credits on his head. That year, the Xexto bounty hunter Tosinqas found Lopani on the planet Brentaal IV and killed him.

The thief Rotar Lopani was active during the Galactic Republic's reign. By this time, he had ties to the Bando Gora criminal organization.[2] In 22 BBY,[1] Lopani fled[2] the Republic's capital planet,[3] Coruscant. Under the impression that he had stolen sensitive diplomatic datapads, representatives of the Circarpous sector placed a bounty of 8,000 credits on his head with the Bounty Hunters' Guild. At the same time, the representatives also asked the Jedi Order for help in capturing Lopani. The Order reacted by dispatching Jedi Knight Reeft, who found the disguised Lopani in a crowded market on[2] the planet[3] Brentaal IV.[2]

The Jedi closely followed Lopani, but the Xexto bounty hunter Tosinqas—who had also taken up the bounty placed on the criminal—appeared on the scene and crashed down on Lopani from several stories above, killing him. Tosinqas then charged Reeft but was bisected by the Jedi's lightsaber. Reeft then brought the bodies of both Lopani and Tosinqas to Coruscant. Afterward, Guildmaster Cradossk of the Bounty Hunters' Guild expressed his displeasure about the situation in comments that were published within an edition of HoloNet News CoCo District Edition.[2]

Personality and traits

Lopani's criminal activities prompted representatives of the Circarpous sector to both put a bounty of 8,000 credits on his head and reach out to the Jedi Order for assistance in his capture. While being pursued, Lopani chose to disguise himself, though the ruse ultimately did not help him evade Tosinqas.[2]

Behind the scenes

Rotar Lopani was first mentioned in "Three-Way Hunt Ends with Two Dead" an article[2] written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens[4] and published in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #53 on the HoloNet News website[2] on April 25, 2002.[5]
