"Roona seconds the motion for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum."
―Senator Edcel Bar Gane[3]

Roona was a planet[4] located in the Roona system, a part of the Bes Ber Bikade sector in the Western Reaches portion of[2] the Expansion Region.[1] It was situated on the Corellian Trade Spine super-hyperroute, which linked it to the Arquata Station, Borkyne, and Epica systems.[2] Roona shared its name with the Roonan lemon fruit.[5]

Roona was represented in the Senate of the Galactic Republic by[3] the Roonan[6] Senator Edcel Bar Gane,[3] who held the position from as early as 34 BBY[7] to as late as 22 BBY.[8] In 32 BBY,[9] Bar Gane was the first to formally second the motion for a Vote of No Confidence in the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum proposed by Queen Amidala of the planet Naboo.[3]

Behind the scenes

Roona was first mentioned in Terry Brooks'[3] April 21, 1999 novelization of[10] the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace,[3] which was released on May 19 of the same year.[10] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Roona system, and therefore the planet Roona, in grid square L-15.[2]
