Room five-two was the workroom where both shifts of Unit five-two served their labor sentence, managed by room managers Kino Loy and Zinska. It was located in Level 5's work ring on the Narkina 5 Imperial Prison Complex and was guarded by the room five-two security team.[1] The work teams there assembled parts for the dish of the Mk I Superlaser on the first Death Star battle station,[2] which was never revealed to the prisoners who worked there. The Narkina 5 prison escape began in room five-two when a replacement for the deceased prisoner Ulaf was delivered.[3]

Behind the scenes

"We spent a long time prototyping the prison 'device' - we had to build an entire bespoke assembly toolset, a complete production line with spare parts and an assembly theory that had to work for real […]"
―Tim Wildgoose[4]

Room five-two first appeared in "Narkina 5," the eighth episode of the first season of the live-action Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor,[1] released on October 26, 2022.[5] The Department of Weapons and Manufacturing at Lucasfilm[6] created the machinery that took up large amounts of the room, making custom tools for the actors to use and ensuring that the work functioned properly as an assembly line.[4]
