Rode was a human who served as a pilot for the Galactic Empire. At one point, he learned the legend of the Wild Squadron from an old Rendellian on Bray. [1] Between 0 ABY and 4 ABY,[2] on Life Day, Rode told his friend Gatt about the Wild Squadron ahead of a patrol of the Endor system. On that flight, Gatt became panicked by a vision of the Wild Squadron, leading her to collide with their commander, Monne, killing them both. Rode called in to the Death Star to inform them of the accident, but he too soon heard the call of the Wild Squadron and became haunted by the ghostly form of Gatt.[1]
