- "Ah, just pesky rock mice."
- ―Attu
A rock mouse was a type of mouse present in the rocky wilderness of the planet Korba.[1] At some point by 19 BBY,[2] the Korban miners Attu and Abat prepared to descend into the mountain Spire 17 mine. Abat's daughter Aau—who was secretly watching the pair—slipped down the edge of the spire and let out a short scream before hiding to avoid being seen. Attu investigated the sound but assumed the noise came from rock mice.[1]
Behind the scenes
Rock mice were introduced in the Star Wars Legends novel Galaxy of Fear: Eaten Alive.
Rock mice were first mentioned in "Aau's Song," a non-canon short film released as part of the second volume of the Star Wars: Visions series. The animated short, produced by Triggerfish Animation Studios, was released on Disney+[1] on May 4, 2023.[3]
Rock mice originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, first appearing via the Shi'ido Mammon Hoole shapeshifting into one in Galaxy of Fear: Eaten Alive, the first volume in the Star Wars: Galaxy of Fear series, which was written by John Whitman[4] and released in February 1997.[5] The mice were later identified in Galaxy of Fear: The Nightmare Machine, the fourth volume in the Galaxy of Fear series, also written by Whitman[6] and released in June of the same year.[5]
