- "Even somethin' as ordinary as a rootleaf can be transformed into a feast if you cook it up right. Few folks realize you can roast an entire head of the stuff and carve it just like a hunk of roast shaak."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Roast shaak was a dish created by roasting the meat of a shaak,[1] a type of non-sentient grazer from the planet Naboo.[2] The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs mentioned the dish in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, which was released at some point after he published his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY.[3] In the main courses section of the book, Tuggs claimed that Roasted Rootleaf, a vegetarian dish, could be carved up just like a roast shaak and served during Life Day festivities.[1]
Behind the scenes
Roast shaak was mentioned in the 2021 Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak.[1]
