- "From what I've heard, the Alderaanians used to throw quite a feast every year, with a roast kulkan as the centrerpiece. They didn't skimp on the fixins neither, boilin' up a variety of veg—includin' kebroot tubers—to complement the main course."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Roast kulkan was a dish served as the centerpiece of the feasts held during the Winter's Heart festival celebrated by the human natives of[1] the planet[2] Alderaan prior to the world's destruction[1] in 0 BBY.[3] The dish was served alongside a mixture of various boiled vegetables including kebroot tubers.[1]
Prior to Alderaan's destruction,[4] the Alderaanian youngling Rel discussed roast kulkan with his friend Max while they played in the snow on the planet.[2] Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs mentioned the dish in a recipe for Kebroot Parcels that he included in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, which was published at some point after the release of his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY.[5]
Behind the scenes
Roast kulkan was first mentioned in "The Song of Winter's Heart," a short story written by Cavan Scott and George Mann in the 2021 Life Day Treasury anthology.[2]
