"Imperial High Command decided that defender pilots would only be selected from TIE interceptor pilots who had flown at least twenty combat missions and survived. We're either the best pilots in the Imperial fleet or the luckiest."
―Rexler Brath[2]

Rexler Brath was an Imperial TIE pilot who flew a TIE/IN interceptor and survived at least twenty combat missions, being selected to fly a TIE/D Defender as a reward. Shortly before 4 ABY's Battle of Endor, Brath was assigned to lead the Imperial Onyx Squadron, and would lead the squadron during the subsequent battle.

Onyx Squadron, the TIE/D Defender squadron Brath was selected to lead

Rexler Brath, an Imperial TIE pilot, flew a TIE/IN interceptor during the Galactic Civil War fought between the Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. At some point, Brath was one of multiple TIE interceptor pilots who had flown and survived at least twenty combat missions and were selected to fly TIE/D Defenders. Shortly before[2] 4 ABY's[3] Battle of Endor, Rexler Brath, while serving as a TIE/D Defender pilot, was assigned to lead Onyx Squadron.[2] At one point, Brath, firing his[1] TIE/D Defender's laser cannons, flew in front of a starship.[4] Brath ultimately led Onyx Squadron during the Battle of Endor,[5] which led to an Imperial defeat by the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[6]

Personality and traits

At some point, Brath recounted the selection process for the TIE/D Defender pilots, and as part of that group, he individually considered all of them to either be the Imperial Navy's best or luckiest pilots after they each survived at least twenty combat missions.[2]

Behind the scenes

Rexler Brath was created by 2003's The New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels.[2] In 2014, he was first visually depicted, flying a TIE/D Defender, in the TIE Defender Expansion Pack of the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game.[7]
