- "We've entered the atmosphere. Fire retrorockets!"
"We've lost lateral control! We're gonna break apart!" - ―A Republic officer, to another officer
Retrorockets,[1] also known as retro thrusters,[2] were a type of rocket on starships which could be used in atmosphere,[1] and were found on ships such as the Tribunal,[3] Millennium Falcon,[4] and Razor Crest.[5] In 19 BBY,[6] the Venator-class Star Destroyer Tribunal,[3] en route from Mandalore to Coruscant, was thrown into turmoil as a result of the execution of Order 66.[7] During the fighting, the ship fell out of hyperspace when a former prisoner on board, the renegade Sith Lord Maul, destroyed its hyperdrive, sending the Star Destroyer onto a collision course with a nearby moon. As the stricken vessel entered the moon's atmosphere, a bridge officer called for the retrorockets to be fired, but was told that they had lost lateral control just before the bridge exploded.[1]
