Repulsor pods were a type of repulsorlift device that could be attached to weaponry. Smaller or weaker users of BlasTech Industries' DH-X heavy blaster rifle often attached miniature repulsor pods to help deal with the cumbersome weapon's sheer mass. Large species like Wookiees or Barabels had no need of such devices and could wield the heavy blaster rifles with ease.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the repulsor pods were mentioned in the 2019 Star Wars Roleplaying supplement Gadgets and Gear, which was published by Fantasy Flight Games.[1] The technology originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in "Ship of Fools," an unlicensed article written by David Ackerman for West End Games' Star Wars Miniatures system that was published in the third issue of Vortext magazine in the winter of 1992.[2] As the article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, it is considered non-canon.[3] It then was first mentioned in licensed material in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game that was written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann and published by West End Games.[4]
