The Republic shipyards were shipyards operated by the Galactic Republic on[2] the Core Worlds planet[3] Hosnian Prime during the High Republic Era.[2] By 232 BBY,[4] the Longbeam cruiser Aurora IX, a state-of-the-art vessel and brand-new design, had been built at the shipyards for use within the Republic Defense Coalition.[2] That year,[4] while serving aboard the Aurora IX in the Outer Rim's Hetzal system, Republic Defense Coalition Captain Finial Bright mentally noted the cruiser's construction at the Republic shipyards.[2] By 34 ABY, the Republic shipyards had been destroyed[1] when the rest of Hosnian Prime was destroyed by the First Order's Starkiller Base superweapon.[5]
