- Avar Kriss: "Do you know how difficult it is to lie in front of a Jedi, Ambassador?"
- Estala Maru: "Especially as Administrator Jahen has supplied evidence in droves. All of which I have now sent to the Republic security service on Coruscant."
- Ghal Tarpfen: "Isn't that my job?"
- ―Jedi Master Avar Kriss, Estala Maru, and Ghal Tarpfen[1]
The Republic security service was a suborganization of the Galactic Republic.[1] In 232 BBY,[2] while on the Starlight Beacon space station, Jedi Master Estala Maru sent evidence that Ambassador Ceeril had faked an assassination attempt on himself to the security service. The station's Head of Security, Ghal Tarpfen, remarked amusedly that she thought that was supposed to be her job instead.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Republic security service was mentioned in the second installment of the short story "Starlight: First Duty," which was written by Cavan Scott and published in the Star Wars Insider magazine's 202nd issue as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's serialized fiction[1] on April 27, 2021.[3]
