Republic Sienar Systems was a starship manufacturing company[2] owned by the Techno Union.[3] The company had ties to the Galactic Republic[2] and was headed by Raith Sienar. The company manufactured a series of luxury pleasure craft for politician Sheev Palpatine (secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious) all known as the Imperialis,[1] as well as the Scimitar, a heavily modified star courier customised in a secret laboratory and used by Sidious' minions, including the Sith Darth Maul.[2]

One of its subsidiaries, Sienar Design Systems, manufactured a IPV-2C Stealth Corvette for the Republic during the Clone Wars.[2] Another division was Republic Sienar EnerCo.[4] Republic Sienar Systems proved to be vital for the Republic's war effort during the Clone Wars, but the Techno Union, while supposedly neutral[3] thanks to its business with both sides,[5] favored the Confederacy of Independent Systems in practice.[6] With Republic Sienar Systems proving to be so vital to the Republic's war production, the Union used it as proof of its alleged neutrality. In reality, however, Union companies produced millions more battle droids than Republic warships.[3]

It became Sienar Fleet Systems after the Republic Era.[2]

Behind the scenes

Republic Sienar Systems was first mentioned in the Imperial Sourcebook, a Star Wars Legends supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game which was written by Greg Gorden and released in 1989. It was confirmed to be canon by the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which was released in 2015.
