The Red Flame was the ideal state of perfection among the Chiss. It represented the essence of courage, cunning, and discipline. Chiss serving in the military, such as First Lieutenant Shawnkyr Nuruodo, wore red piping on their flight suits to remind themselves that the ideals of the Red Flame should be aspired to, though not necessarily destined to be achieved.[1]
Behind the scenes
- "But more than that, you embody the Red Flame—our courage, our cunning and our discipline. You are a remarkable woman."
- ―Aristocra Saganu
Red Flame was first mentioned in the 2001 short story Red Sky, Blue Flame, which was written by Elaine Cunningham and published within the seventh issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine.[1] During the mission "Assault on the Starbreeze" in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, when playing as a female Chiss Imperial Agent on the planet Hoth, it is possible to flirt with the Chiss Aristocra Saganu, in which case the latter will state that the player character embodies the Red Flame.[2]
