Red, designated CC-2357 and also referred to as 2357, was a Clone Captain who served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Red fought in the First Battle of Geonosis and saw near constant action ever since. While part of a delegation overseeing a new simulation chamber, the facility was sabotage by Kaj Loomit. Red, along with the other delegates, helped with the issues caused by the sabotage and eventually defeated Kaj Loomit.
Biography
Born on the planet Kamino from the genetic template of bounty hunter Jango Fett,[1] CC-2357 was a male clone trooper[2] created to serve in the Grand Army of the Republic.[1] 2357 fought during the First Battle of Geonosis, the beginning of the Clone Wars, and saw almost constant action ever since. Not long after the battle, he was promoted to captain. As a newly promoted officer, he almost died from an attack by local fauna. He escaped and was left with two blood-red scars above his right eye, which earned him the nickname "Red" from his troops who began calling him "Captain Red."[2]
Red, now considered a veteran clone trooper, was assigned to observe and evaluate an important training facility on Kamino. He was part of a delegation that consisted of ARC trooper Hawk, Jedi General Hallan Krintu and his Padawan Yigan Lam, and senator Tas Gallin and her aide Zinn Kudri. Despite feeling as though this was a mundane escort mission and preferred to be on the front lines, he was nonetheless happy to visit his home once again. Upon arrival, the delegation was greeted by Kaminoan training administrator Kama Te. Te escorted the group to the control center of the huge simulation chamber, which could simulate almost any terrain and climate for heightened realism during combat exercises.[2]
During a combat simulation between clone trainees and B1 training droids and turrets in an arctic wasteland, a deafening boom echoed throughout the chamber and the floor began to tear apart in a similar way to a groundquake. Clones and droids were swept away by the freezing-cold water from the simulation into the maintenance chamber below and violently thrown into the air. The battle was ceased with the remaining droids in the simulation chamber shut off with Te and the other Kaminoan technicians stunned. The droids and turrets then sprung back into action and resumed their attack, to which Red and the other delegates fought back and eliminated.[2]
As Red and the other delegates continued to help with the situation, an avalanche started to form as the floor surrounding the control center collapsed and its energy shield dissipated. With the shield down and the avalanche heading straight for the control center, Red and his fellow delegates worked to reactivate the shield. The delegates then used speeder trucks to rescue the clones that were trapped under fallen machinery. After the rescue, the group noticed the avalanche had exposed several areas in the flooring and walls that revealed signs of sabotage.[2]
The group continued to help by aiding the injured clone troopers until a large explosion sent snow into the air and droids began to march forward blasting at them. A voice shouted, which the Kaminoans recognized as the voice of Kaj Loomit, a trader they made deals with and had been a trusted part of the facility's development. The Kaminoans informed Red and his fellow delegates about Loomit, who they now learned was a Separatist Alliance agent and was responsible for the sabotage.[2]
Red, along with the other delegates and clone trainees, faced off against Kaj Loomit's reprogrammed droids. They fought their way through the B2 super battle training droids, turret emplacements, and C-8 saboteur droids, eventually defeating Kaj Loomit and his forces. The group then discovered Loomit's datapad with detailed lists of planets and sabotage plans set to occur within the upcoming days.[2]
Personality and traits
As a clone trooper of Jango Fett, Red had tan skin. Unlike most clones who stood at 1.83 meters tall,[1] Red was slightly shorter at 1.8 meters tall. He also had black hair and brown eyes, with twin red scars over his right eye. Red had a firm belief in the Galactic Republic's cause, firmer than most clones.[2]
Equipment
Red wore white Phase I clone trooper armor with red-colored markings and a kama with red highlights. He wielded a DC-17 hand blaster and was equipped with frag grenades. He also carried stimpacks and a survival pack that contained emergency rations, a water filtration system, microfiber line, and a distress beacon.[2]
Behind the scenes
Red was first depicted as an unnamed clone in in the news post Rise of the Separatists on Fantasy Flight Games' official website on August 10, 2018.[3] The clone would later be identified and appear in Fantasy Flight Games' roleplaying adventure Begun, The Clone Wars Have!, released exclusively for attendees of GenCon in 2019.[2]
