"A Rainbow Lightsaber? Miners on Ilum Say It's Possible"
Galaxy Feed news report title[1]

The rainbow lightsaber was a hypothesized type of lightsaber the blade of which was horizontally divided into variable-width bands of multiple colors.[1] By approximately 179 BBY,[2] the title of a news report by the Galaxy Feed periodical claimed that miners on Ilum,[1] a planet in the Unknown Regions that served as the primary source of kyber crystals used in lightsaber construction,[3] described the design of the rainbow lightsaber as "possible." The news report also included an illustration of the theoretical lightsaber variation.[1]

Behind the scenes

The rainbow lightsaber appeared in Attack of the Furball, the 2019 eighth entry in the Star Wars: Jedi Academy non-canon young-reader book series. The book was written by Jarrett J. Krosoczka and Amy Ignatow.[1]
