R3-Y2 was a yellow-orange trimmed R3-series astromech droid who served the Rebel Alliance in its command center on the planet Hoth. R3-Y2 is part of the R3 series of astromechs and sports a clear dome. It has the same markings as R3-A2, who also worked at the Echo Base.
In 3 ABY, R3-Y2 was present in the command center when Captain Han Solo reported destroying what turned out to be an Imperial Viper probe droid. The astromech droid later on assisted in evacuating the base during the Battle of Hoth.
