R1-Q10 was an R1-series astromech droid who wore a hat. The R-series astromech droid was at some point present near moisture vaporators in a village on[1] the Outer Rim planet Genbara sometime after the Sith rebellion.[2]
Behind the scenes
R1-Q10 was created for "The Duel,"[1] a non-canon short film released as part of the first volume of the Star Wars: Visions animated series, produced by Kamikaze Douga and was released on Disney+[3] on September 22, 2021,[4] but the droid did not appear in the final version of the short.[3] Prior to the short's release, the droid was pictured in a video uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube channel on July 3, 2021.[5]
Concept art of the droid was created by Takashi Okazaki. Its name was first revealed in an interview, published on April 12, 2022, which also contained concept art for the droid displaying the Japanese characters 火の用心 (hi no youjin),[1] meaning "watch out for fire,"[6] written on the droid's body.[1] R1-Q10 also appeared in several pieces of concept art as part of the background, including in the aforementioned YouTube video,[5] as well as in gallery slides for Bandit Troopers leader Kouru and a Dug guard on the StarWars.com episode guide for "The Duel,"[7] and a concept art piece for the character the Ronin in Zack Davisson's reference book The Art of Star Wars: Visions,[8] published on October 5, 2022.[9]
