Quinlan Vos constructed his green-bladed lightsaber while under the tutelage of Jedi Master Tholme.[3] Vos wielded his lightsaber aggressively,[1] and used it during the Yinchorri Uprising in 33 BBY[source?], along with his master. After becoming a Jedi Knight, Vos continued to use the lightsaber, even during the Clone Wars.[4]

When Vos became a double-agent for the Jedi,[5] he brushed against the dark side of the Force, becoming one of Sith Lord Count Dooku's most trusted acolytes. After being manipulated by Dooku to murder his own aunt with his lightsaber,[6] Vos fully convinced Dooku of his fall to the dark side. As a reward for his actions during the mission Vos was sent to recover an ancient Sith holocron, Dooku removed the red Sith crystal from the holocron and presented it to Vos stating that it used to power Darth Andeddu's lightsaber.[2]
After breaking free of the dark side, Vos returned to the Jedi Order,[7] and replaced the red crystal with his original green crystal and performed several deeds for the Galactic Republic.[8] After the bounty hunter Cad Bane freed Ziro the Hutt from prison, Vos teamed up with Obi-Wan Kenobi and headed for Nal Hutta in Hutt Space. After visiting Ziro's mother, Mama, the two headed for Teth, where they battled Bane and his droid.[4]
During the siege of Saleucami[9] in 19.5 BBY,[10] Vos used the lightsaber to kill fallen Jedi Sora Bulq,[11] after the latter killed Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis.[12] After the siege, Vos was given orders to go to Kashyyyk, along with Masters Yoda and Luminara Unduli.[13] When Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, as the Sith Master Darth Sidious, issued Order 66,[14] Vos was still stationed on the Wookiee planet when Master Unduli was shot down and Yoda escaped the planet. Vos used his weapon to escape the Republic forces.[15]
