Pterathki

The Pterathki were a bird-like species native to Makeb,^[1] they were also found in the wilds of Onderon.

Biology and Appearance

Pterathki were bird-like creatures, they used their dual tails to attract prey (usually small animals), before spearing them with stabs of their powerful beaks.

Edibility

Although there was little meat on the body of the Pterathki, they were known to be particularly delicious to the Hutt palate, especially when covered in Dantooine Cane Syrup. After the takeover of Makeb, it was common for Hutt Cartel forces to net Pterathki for their Masters. Many of these forces gained scars for their efforts due to the Pterathki's powerful beaks.

Behind the scenes

The Pterathki first appeared in the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion of the video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. They later showed up on the planet of Onderon in the later expansion, Onslaught.
