Protect the Republic was a voting campaign propaganda poster, encouraging people to vote for Leia Organa for First Senator. It depicts an image of Leia in front of a red background with four X-Wings soaring up, with the words on the top and bottom, both of which were in High Galactic, stating, respectively, "Protect the Republic" and "Vote Leia First Senator."
Behind the scenes
The poster bears a striking resemblance to the cover art for the novel Bloodline.
The image was created by Random House art director Scott Biel.[1] It was originally created for a promo poster for the 2016 novel Bloodline,[2] whose cover strongly resembles the poster. There were two promo posters created for the book: One was the standard version, and the other was a defaced version with Leia's face replaced with that of Vader's visage and having the word "Liar" written over (referring to the in-universe revelation among the New Republic senators that Leia was the daughter of Darth Vader and losing a lot of the public's trust as a result).
