Poonten grass was a type of grass. The enslaved child Anakin Skywalker had brown bedding, including his pillow, made with dried poonten grass.[1] In 32 BBY,[2] the bedding was in his home on Slave Quarters Row in the city of Mos Espa on the desert planet Tatooine when he brough the offworlders Padmé Amidala and R2-D2 into his bedroom to show off his protocol droid, C-3PO. When Skywalker later left Tatooine, he did not pack the bedding to take with him.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, poonten grass was mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations. It was part of material reprinted[1] from the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund, illustrated by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen, and marked the first mention of the grass in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[3]
