Behind the scenes

"When I talked about the Polan, Leslye just said, 'It's a caravan for Jedi police.' Because in a funny way, we're watching a police drama. So I gave it the sensibility of a traveling vehicle where everything they ever need is in there rather than a freighter."
―Kevin Jenkins[4]

The Polan-717 Jedi transport first appeared in "Lost / Found"[3] and "Revenge / Justice,"[5] the first and second episodes of the Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte, which aired simultaneously on June 4, 2024.[6] Prior to the premiere of The Acolyte, the Polan was first pictured in the series' trailer on March 19 of that year,[7] before being identified in an entry on the StarWars.com Databank[1] published on May 4.[8]

The Polan was named in memoriam of a friend of showrunner Leslye Headland.[9] In discussions with production designer Kevin Jenkins, Headland described the Polan as a caravan for Jedi police, leading Jenkins to design the vessel such that it contained everything they would require. Due to The Acolyte being set in a new era, the series' spacecraft were given a fresh design vernacular.[4]
